Join Us for the 21st Annual Walkin' On Chalk Art Festival in Altus!
Spring is in full swing, and there's no better way to kick off the season than with a colorful celebration of art, creativity, and community. The 21st Annual Walkin' On Chalk festival, hosted by Main Street Altus and the Shortgrass Arts & Humanities Council, is back and better than ever!
Starting in 2004, Walkin' on Chalk was created as a way for local kids to express their creativity, and it’s grown into a beloved community tradition. This year, we're inviting artists of all ages to participate in this family-friendly event and showcase their chalk art skills.

Know Before You Go:
To help you make the most of your day, here are a few extra tips:
Bring Sunscreen!
The event is outdoors, so make sure to protect your skin from the sun. Apply sunscreen before you leave, and bring it with you for reapplication throughout the day.Shade Tent (Optional):
You’re welcome to bring a shade tent to stay cool, but please note that it cannot be set up on the sidewalk where the chalk art will be created. Find a spot nearby to set up your tent and take breaks in the shade.Bring a Towel to Sit On:
If you’re planning to participate in the chalk art contest or just want to relax, a towel or blanket will make sitting on the ground much more comfortable.Baby Wipes Are a Must!
Chalk can be messy, so bring some baby wipes or wet wipes to clean your hands in between sessions or after you’re done creating your masterpiece.Folding Chair:
If you prefer not to sit on the ground, a folding chair is a great option for staying comfortable while enjoying the art and festivities.Stay Hydrated!
With the spring sun shining down, it’s important to stay hydrated throughout the day. Be sure to bring plenty of water to keep refreshed while you enjoy the event.
