Main Street Altus Welcomes Amanda Redding as New Program Director

Last Updated 3/7/2025

Altus, OK – Main Street Altus is pleased to announce the appointment of Amanda Redding as the new Program Director. A native of Altus, Amanda brings a wealth of experience and a deep commitment to the community. We are excited to welcome her to the Main Street Altus team, where she will continue the organization’s mission of revitalizing the downtown area and fostering community growth.

Amanda graduated from Altus High School before pursuing higher education and returning to Altus to spend 15 years serving the community as a physical therapist assistant. She and her husband later purchased his family’s business, further strengthening their roots in the area.

Throughout the years, Amanda has been an active community member, serving on several boards, including the Stephen E. Booker Foundation, the Altus Chamber of Commerce, and the Western Oklahoma State College Alumni Board. She and her husband have two children and are proud to be part of the Altus community.

In her new role as Program Director, Amanda is excited to build on the success of Main Street Altus, working alongside staff, volunteers, and board members. To ensure a smooth transition, Lynna Wilmes, the outgoing Program Director, will be training Amanda for the next couple of months. We would also like to take this opportunity to thank Lynna for her many years of hard work, dedication, and the incredible growth she has helped foster in the program.

Preston Gunkel, Board President of Main Street Altus, expressed his enthusiasm for the transition, saying, “We are excited to have Amanda continue the program based on all the hard work of past directors, board members, and volunteers. We look forward to the continued growth and success of Main Street Altus under her leadership.”

In addition to her new role as Program Director, Amanda will continue serving as one of the Altus Junior High cheerleading coaches, further solidifying her deep ties to the community.

Main Street Altus is dedicated to preserving the history and enhancing the vibrancy of downtown Altus, and Amanda’s leadership will play an integral role in advancing these efforts.
